Lake District is the largest (area of 2,279 square kilometers) in England by a national park and the most famous natural region. The park got its name from 16 large lakes, in the aria. The largest lake is called Windermere, with two villages on its shores, Windermere and Bowness-on-Windermere. From here you can go for a boat trip on the lake, or a small amusing steamer to go on an excursion to Sawrey and Ambleside.
